The home port of Tarragona is the perfect base for short & long distance sailing with beautiful coastline from the moment you leave the marina. Barcelona is undeniably a great city but it is not necessarily a good base for short sails as it is such a long drag through the port to reach open sea from most bases. Tarragona city itself is a mixture of stunning medieval and Roman architecture and is well worth a visit if time permits.
By Rail: From Barcelona, Tarragona is a very easy (cheap) train ride down the coast with 3 trains an hour. If you take this option we will supply detailed advise on the train options and you would be met at the station. Many people have taken this option and have all agreed that it added to the day out.
By Air: The Ryanair ‘Barcelona’ airport of Reus is just 15 minutes from the marina and transport to and from the boat can be provided.
Many airlines fly into Barcelona itself. From there it is a straightforward train and inexpensive train down the coast to Tarragona where you would be met from the train. There are 3 trains an hour to choose from. Pick up from Barcelona airport can be discussed but it is not the cheapest option.
By Car: The main north/south motorway (AP7) passes close to Tarragona and connects with the main French routes. We can supply detailed instructions on how to find the marina which includes inexpensive secure parking.
With the wide range in the cost of flights available, getting to and from the boat has not been included in the package price. However, we will be happy to search for best prices and book flights on behalf of the customer if required.
